Air -
Fly into Sunshine Coast Domestic Airport at Maroochydore or Brisbane Airport. The Sunshine Coast is located one hour drive north of Brisbane.

Rail -
Queensland Rail services operate from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast with connecting bus services to the coastal centres.

Transfers -
Transfer options include Sun Air Bus Service, Henry’s Airport Shuttle Service, Cooloola Connections, taxis, car and limousine hire.

Tours and things to do on Fraser Island

Lake McKenzie

Lined with pure white sand and filled with crystal clear rainwater, Lake McKenzie is Fraser Island’s most popular attraction. Take a dip, or wake up early to see it lit up at sunrise.

The Maheno Shipwreck

An iconic landmark of Fraser Island, this ill-fated trans-Tasman liner was driven ashore in 1935. Its rusting skeleton still stands on the sand north of Happy Valley, slowly eroding away in the salt and wind.

Four-wheel driving

Fraser Island is a 4WD playground and one of the few places in Australia where you can drive along the beach (just watch out for the tides). Pick up your permit and don’t miss a spin along the full length of 75 Mile Beach.

3 Days/2 Nights Fraser Island

Day1

Fraser Island is the jewel of the Fraser Coast. Depart Brisbane in the morning for a 3 Hour self-drive to Hervey Bay (River heads)

Arrive at River heads in Hervey Bay and take the afternoon ferry to Fraser Island. Check into Kingfisher Bay Resort at Fraser Island and head over to the jetty hut and enjoy a cheese platter with a beer while watching Fraser Island’s most beautiful sunset.

Kingfisher Bay Resort is the gateway to the World Heritage Wilderness of Fraser Island, its ancient rainforest, spectacular fresh-water lakes, and famous 75-mile beach. The resort is a paradise of boating, fishing, swimming, four-wheel driving and just enjoying the magnificent, natural beauty of this island.

Day 2

Start your day with an early breakfast and Hop on the 8:30 am 4WD bust to explore Fraser Island’s beauty.

On this beautiful day you’ll visit the top natural famous highway, the Maheno shipwreck and the coloured sands of The Pinnacles, swim in the temperate, fresh waters of Eli Creek and the island’s jewel Lake McKenzie.

Jump to the opportunity of taking a ride off the world’s only beach runway, undoubtedly the best views of Fraser Island, you will see Stingrays, Dolphins and even Whales during season, as you fly over the spectacular coastline.

Have breakfast and depart Fraser Island on the ferry.
