Music Biennale Zagreb was first organized, is an international festival of contemporary music organized by the Croatian Composers Society and is considered today one of the most important festivals of contemporary music in Europe.

The Zagreb Airport began operations.

‘Animafest Zagreb’ was first held. It is the World Festival of Animated Films held annually and is the second oldest animation festival in the world.

Zagreb crisis began followed by rocket attacks by Serbian forces.

Zagreb Film Festival was first organized and is now an annual event.
2005
INmusic festival was first held. It is Croatia’s biggest international contemporary open-air music festival.

The Museum of Contemporary Art opened.
