Since Cairo is an iconic city whose history is closely related to Islam, the majority religion is also Islam, of which the Sunnis are the largest sect. There are also Christians in Cairo and majority of them belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church. The demographics of Cairo also show the existence of Jews, even though most of them have now migrated to Israel or the United States. There are some Buddhists as well. One of the best things to notice in Cairo is that Muslims and Christians share a common history, ethnicity, national identity, race, culture, and language.
